SUMMARY:Exhibition: Freely Chosen - Recent moments captured by Wrexham Playworkers
DESCRIPTION:For Ffoto Cymru 2026 with the theme of There’s More To Life\, an exhibition in Wrexham could only centre around one thing – playwork and adventure playgrounds. \nWales was the first country in the world to legislate in support of children’s right to play –through Play Sufficiency Duty. This means that play is already special in Wales\, and in this specialness is amplified in Wrexham\, which is home to the only three adventure playgrounds in Wales: The Venture\, Gwenfro Valley and the Land. \nThese playgrounds work in dialogue with one another\, and with the local play and youth support team\, to provide life changing opportunities for children to be themselves through play\, free from the constraints that govern most situations and settings in their daily lives. \nThe people perhaps best placed in the world to capture moments of children’s play through photography\, are playworkers themselves. They are immersed in the moment with the children; they are attuned to the rhythms of play as it ebbs and flows; they have longstanding relationships with the children and have earned their trust. For this reason\, all the images in this exhibition have been captured by Wrexham playworkers\, rather than by a visiting artist or photographer.

SUMMARY:Matinee: Free Lunchtime Concert - Simeon Walker
DESCRIPTION:Leeds-based pianist and composer Simeon Walker has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most compelling voices in contemporary piano music\, with his work regularly broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM and streamed over 50 million times worldwide. \nA prolific live performer\, Walker tours extensively across the UK and Europe\, sharing stages with artists including Neil Cowley\, Submotion Orchestra\, Erland Cooper and LYR\, and appearing at Latitude Festival\, the Edinburgh Fringe\, Manchester Jazz Festival and SXSW London. His composition ‘Reverie’ featured on the first official Piano Day compilation (2022) alongside Nils Frahm\, Ólafur Arnalds and Chilly Gonzales. \nBeyond his own work\, Simeon is an accomplished composer\, performer\, arranger and session musician\, collaborating across musical genres and interdisciplinary art\, dance and theatre projects. He sits on the Musicians’ Union Live Advisory Board and the Featured Artists Coalition Artist Council\, and in 2018 he founded Brudenell Piano Sessions\, a live music series celebrating original piano-centred music\, which he continues to curate. \nDrawing on a classical foundation and a deep appreciation for jazz\, ambient and experimental forms\, Simeon’s performances move between hushed introspection and expansive grandeur. The piano becomes a meeting place\, where shared musical experiences foster dialogue\, connection and community through intimate\, emotionally direct performances\, defined by a uniquely delicate touch. \n“A singular and enchanting hour” – The Fringe Review \n“Sublime\, assured and immersive compositions” – SY Gigs \n“Remarkable stage presence and command of the instrument “ – Modellbahn Music \n“For those who aren’t generally fans of classical music\, this new movement offers a modern take that reconnects us with the beauty of the piano and how composers like Simeon Walker can use it in different ways to convey what it is that makes us human” – Louder Than War \nA new autumn season of FREE Wednesday lunchtime concerts at Tŷ Pawb\n9/9/26\n1pm\nRufus Edwards (Piano) \n23/9/26\n1pm\nNova Saxophone Quartet \n7/10/26\n1pm\nSimeon Walker\n(Piano) \n28/10/26\n1pm\nDominic Downs\n(Piano) \n11/11/26\n1pm\nCambrian Harps: Katie Hedley\n(Telyn / Harp)
