SUMMARY:Wrexham Mental Health First Aid by CULT Cymru
DESCRIPTION:One person in four will experience a form of mental health condition in the course of a year. Mental Health First Aid (Wales) training can help improve lives. \nAims: \nThis two-day course aims to improve mental health awareness\, and help people in the creative sectors to recognise the signs and symptoms of someone with mental health conditions. Practical information will be provided. Please note the course content has not been tailored to the creative sector\, but you will be on the course with other creatives and have an opportunity to work in small groups. \nObjectives: \nThe course does not train you to be a therapist\, counsellor or mental health professional\, but it will increase your confidence in working with vulnerable adults. \nBy the end of the session you should be able to: \n\ngive initial help to someone experiencing a mental health problem\ndeal with a crisis situation or the first signs of someone developing mental ill health\nguide people towards appropriate support\n\nPlease note that this course covers sensitive subjects that may be upsetting for some people. Please let us know in confidence if there are any topics that are likely to be difficult or triggering for you by emailing wyn.williams@bectu.org.uk in the first instance. \nCertificate: \nParticipants who complete the full two days will receive a certificate of attendance from Mental Health First Aid Wales. \nLunch will be provided on both days If you require financial support to enable you to attend the course please get in touch. wyn@bectu.org.uk \nTRAINER – BETHAN ROBERTS \nBethan has been a mental health first aid trainer since 2008\, and she regularly provides courses to a range of organisations across the public\, private and third sectors. She is a tutor on mental health at Cardiff University and has provided training on mental health across the different departments of the civil service in Britain. Bethan also teaches mindfulness and is an instructor and professor for Bangor University’s mindfulness research and practice centre \nCULT CYMRU \nCULT Cymru is a skills programme supported through the Welsh Government’s Union Wales Learning Fund. \nCULT Cymru workshops are delivered in a friendly and non-threatening environment where participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and raise issues during the day.

DESCRIPTION:A Warm Welcome at Ty Pawb –– Free Weekly Warm Space Craft Activity with a Hot Meal! \nAs part of Wrexham Council’s efforts to support residents through the cost of living crisis\, a number of community ‘warm places’ in have been established Wrexham. These are already existing warm spaces where people can come to stay warm\, including ten of our libraries and the Wellbeing Hub. \nLaunching on the 11th December\, Warm Welcome at Ty Pawb is a new Warm Space project that will offer participants the opportunity to learn new craft skills\, in a relaxed social environment with a free hot drink and hot meal. \nWarm Welcome has been funded through the Warm Spaces Small Grant Fund for the benefit of residents struggling with the cost of living. \nSessions will be delivered by experienced local artist Ceri Wright and include a range of creative activity including working with print\, collage and clay. SUMMARY:Exhibition: Jonathan Le Vay - Opus
DESCRIPTION:Jonathan Le Vay\, born in London\, studied at Cardiff College of Art (1979-82) and Cyprus College of Art (1985-86) has lived in North Wales for over 35 years. He is an accomplished pianist and jazz composer with a strong interest in the Visual Arts and is a respected curator. \nThis is a solo exhibition featuring large paintings using observation as a starting point for structure\, pattern\, composition\, beautiful surfaces\, colour and movement. These observed figurative elements are used as a vehicle for pleasurable expression and enable easily accessible optical enjoyment. \nAs an additional layer\, some paintings will be paired to short pieces of original music accessed via QR code\, offering a multi-sensory experience that will resonate with art and music lovers alike and give an insight into the mind of the artist.

SUMMARY:NEW Academi Gresford Opera Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Calling all young musicians! Join us for an informal and relaxed workshop where we will learn music from the Ivor Novello Award-nominated opera Gresford\, Up From Underground\, playing and conducting alongside musicians from the NEW Sinfonia orchestra. \nOpen to ALL instrumentalists Grade 1 and above! \nYoung musicians will perform new extracts from our Opera production alongside our orchestra of professional musicians. This workshop will develop their ensemble performance\, confidence and leadership skills\, and create inspirational and lasting musical memories as they play side-by-side with professional musicians. They will also be invited to try conducting the orchestra!  \nAt 12.15pm we will have an informal performance of what we have worked on for parents before the workshop ends at 12.30pm.  \nWe are taking Jon Guy’s Award-nominated opera Gresford\, Up From Underground on tour across Wales. There are opportunities for young musicians to play in the orchestra during the performances in addition to the workshops. Young musicians must take part in a workshop to be eligible to play in a performance.  \nIf you would like to sign up\, please RSVP using the form below so we know who is attending and what instruments they play. \nSheet music can be found in the folder linked below. There are 5 parts and each part has some variations for difficulty level – please pick whichever part is most suitable for you!
