Darganfod 2023 has come to a close and we are delighted to say that it was our biggest year ever!

More than 800 people attended the two-day festival, organised by Xplore! Science Discovery Centre, Tŷ Pawb and Wrexham Council’s City Centre’s Events Team – a new record since the festival returned to Wrexham in 2018.

Lead Member with responsibility for Tŷ Pawb, Cllr Hugh Jones said: “Since the festival returned five years ago, the team at Xplore!, Tŷ Pawb and Wrexham Council’s Events Team have formed a fantastic partnership, working together to bring an extravaganza of science and art to Wrexham city centre every summer.

“Praise must go to the providers of activities, shows and workshops, who inspired and entertained so many families, and also to the team of staff and volunteers for the excellent planning and organisation that helped this year’s festival run so smoothly.”

Lead Member for Economy, Cllr Nigel Williams, said: “Darganfod Science Festival has continued to grow and get better and better every year and can now be quite rightly seen as one of Wrexham’s key, signature annual events. It’s fantastic to see that this year’s edition has been the most popular so far, with 800 children and adults attending. Congratulations to the team and we look forward to seeing the festival return next year.”

Katie Williams, Business Development Officer at Xplore! said, “Thank you to our sponsors and funders who gave generously to allow us to run the festival at all. Thanks to Aparito, Principality Building Society and Lyan Packaging for your sponsorship of the event. Without your generous contributions the event would not have happened.

Support from Wrexham County Borough Council, Reaching Wider and Wrexham University was also much appreciated in helping Darganfod//Discover reach as many people as it did”.

This year’s providers brought dinosaurs, clouds, chemistry, Roald Dahl, body tracking, photography, robots, music and song, cave painting, video games and so much more to life for the people of Wrexham. Thank you for all you did in making the event run smoothly.

And finally a massive thank you to everyone who braved the wind and the rain on Saturday and the glorious sunshine of Sunday to attend the event. Without your continued and ongoing support Darganfod would not exist in the city of Wrexham and would not have reached five years! We have loved meeting you all and providing a chance for everyone to engage with science.
