1876 Year of Wonder – Creative Writing: Kick Off A Story

Travel back to 1876, when the Football Association of Wales was founded, and football was just beginning to capture the nation’s imagination. In this lively two-hour family creative writing workshop, we’ll create our own players to star in their own story, create our own commentary for our everyday lives or rewrite football chants and come up with a few of our own!

Inspired by the 1876 Year of Wonder and the establishment of the Football Association of Wales in Wrexham!

This session is open to all ages with no experience necessary, whether you want to write as a family or engage in storytelling. This session is flexible and contains family-friendly themes and tasks for all ages.

What to bring:

You can expect a guided creative writing session, with gentle prompts and inspiration. Please bring whatever you feel comfortable writing with (pen, notebook, phone, laptop etc.) and a drink. There will be a short comfort break in the middle and you are welcome to take a break anytime you need during the session.

Language:

The sessions will predominantly be held in English, using everyday Welsh but participants are welcome to write and take part in any language they are comfortable using.

Access:This workshop is located on the ground floor. There is a ‘Changing Places’ accessible toilet on site. Free parking for blue badge holders is available in our multistorey carpark. If you have any additional access needs, please email teampawb@wrexham.gov.uk ahead of the session.
